Privacy Policy
Last Updated: September 29, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Jibify ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use our mobile application (the "App") on Android and iOS. Where the two versions differ, this policy says so.
1. Information We Collect
A. Personal & Financial Data (Stored Locally)
Jibify is designed to be a privacy-first application. We do not run user accounts or a cloud database. The following data is stored only on your device, in the App's private storage:
- Financial Records: Transactions, accounts and balances, categories, budgets, recurring transactions, debts, saving goals, and trips.
- Receipt and Trip Photos: Images you choose to attach to a transaction or trip.
- Profile and Preferences: The name you set in the App, your currency, language, theme, and lock settings.
We never receive your financial records, and they are never shared with advertisers or analytics providers. They leave your device only when you export them yourself (a backup, CSV, or PDF file saved wherever you choose), or, if you turn on the cloud AI option described in section 1.F, as the summaries needed to answer your request.
B. Crash Reports and Analytics
- Firebase Crashlytics (Android & iOS): When the App crashes, a crash report (stack trace, device model, OS version, and app version) is sent to Firebase Crashlytics so we can find and fix the problem. Crash reports do not contain your financial records.
- Google Analytics for Firebase (Android only): On Android, anonymous usage metrics (such as device model, OS version, and which features are used) help us understand how the App is used. Analytics is not included in the iOS App.
C. Advertising (Google AdMob — Android & iOS)
Jibify is free and is supported by ads served through Google AdMob on both Android and iOS. The ad service may collect:
- Device Identifiers: The Android Advertising ID, or on iOS the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), but only if you allow tracking (see below).
- Device Information: Model, OS version, screen size, and an approximate location derived from your IP address.
- Ad Interaction Data: Which ads were shown, clicked, or converted.
No financial data is passed to the ad service. Ads are chosen by Google, not from anything you record in the App.
Your choices:
- Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland): A consent form from Google's certified Consent Management Platform asks for your choice before any ad is requested.
- App Tracking Transparency (iOS): The App asks whether it may track you. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", the IDFA is not shared and you see non-personalised ads. You can change this later in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- Android: Settings > Google > Ads lets you delete your Advertising ID or opt out of ads personalisation.
- In the App: Where consent applies, Settings > Privacy > Privacy Settings lets you review or withdraw your advertising consent at any time.
AdMob uses this data in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
D. App Lock and Biometrics (Optional)
If you turn on the App lock with a password, fingerprint, or Face ID:
- Biometric checks are performed by your device's operating system (BiometricPrompt on Android; LocalAuthentication on iOS, with your device passcode as a fallback). The App only learns whether the check succeeded.
- We do not receive, store, or transmit biometric data.
- An App password, if you set one, is stored only on your device.
E. Voice Input (Optional)
If you add a transaction by voice:
- The App asks for microphone and speech recognition permission the first time you use it.
- iOS: Speech is converted to text by Apple's Speech framework, on your device where it supports on-device recognition, otherwise by Apple's servers under Apple's privacy policy.
- Android: Speech is converted to text by your device's speech recognition service, which may use Google's servers depending on your device and settings.
- We do not record, keep, or receive your audio. Only the resulting text is used, to fill in the transaction.
F. AI Features
Smart categorisation, the finance assistant chat, natural-language search, receipt parsing, and insights use one of the following:
- On-device AI (default where available): Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models) on supported iPhones, or Gemini Nano through Android AICore on supported Android devices. Processing happens entirely on your device and nothing is sent anywhere.
- Cloud AI (optional, your own key): If you enter your own Google Gemini API key, requests that on-device AI cannot handle (because it is unavailable on your device, or fails on that request) are sent to Google's Gemini API under your key. To answer them, a request includes the relevant parts of your data, for example a transaction's note and amount, text read from a receipt, or, for the finance chat, your messages together with summaries such as totals by category and budget progress. This data goes directly from your device to Google; we never receive it. Google's Gemini API terms apply. You can remove the key at any time in Settings.
- Without either, AI features are simply unavailable; the rest of the App works fully offline.
G. Photos and Receipt Scanning (Optional)
- The App does not use your camera. You pick an existing photo through the system photo picker, which shares only the photo you select.
- Text on a receipt is read on your device (Apple Vision on iOS; Google ML Kit on Android).
- A photo you attach is saved in the App's private storage with the transaction or trip, and is included in backups you export. Deleting the transaction or trip deletes the photo.
- We do not receive your photos. Only the text read from a receipt may be sent to Google, and only if you use the cloud AI option in section 1.F.
H. Notifications
Budget alerts and reminders are generated on your device from your local data. The App does not read notifications from other apps.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the App's personal finance features.
- To detect and fix crashes (Firebase Crashlytics, Android and iOS).
- To understand how features are used from anonymous metrics (Android only).
- To show ads that keep the App free (Google AdMob, Android and iOS).
- To provide AI features, on your device or through your own Gemini API key.
3. Data Sharing
Data reaches the following third parties, as described above:
- Google Firebase Crashlytics (Android & iOS): crash reports.
- Google Analytics for Firebase (Android only): anonymous usage metrics.
- Google AdMob (Android & iOS): device identifiers (when permitted), device information, and ad interactions, for ad delivery and measurement.
- Google Gemini API (optional): the content of AI requests you make, only if you enter your own API key.
- Apple or Google speech recognition: voice input, when your device cannot transcribe it on-device.
We do not sell your personal information. Your financial records are never shared with advertisers or analytics services, and we have no server that receives them.
4. Data Retention
- Local Data: Kept on your device until you delete it in the App (Settings lets you clear all data), clear the App's storage, or uninstall the App.
- Crash Reports: Kept according to Firebase Crashlytics retention policies (currently 90 days).
- Advertising and Analytics Data: Kept according to Google's retention policies.
4.1 App Store & Google Play Privacy Disclosures
- Apple App Privacy (iOS):
- Data Used to Track You: Device ID (IDFA) and advertising data through Google AdMob, only if you allow tracking through App Tracking Transparency.
- Data Not Linked to You: Crash data (Firebase Crashlytics); advertising data, product interaction, and coarse location used by Google AdMob to serve and measure ads.
- Not Collected: Financial information, contacts, photos, audio, and any content you enter in the App.
- Google Play Data Safety (Android):
- Device or Other IDs: Collected and shared through Google AdMob and Firebase Analytics, for advertising and analytics.
- App Activity and App Info & Performance:Anonymous usage metrics and crash logs, for analytics and app stability.
- Not Collected: Financial information, photos, audio, and any content you enter in the App.
- Data Deletion: Because your data is stored only on your device, clearing it in the App or uninstalling the App permanently removes it. We hold no account or copy of it.
5. Security
- App Lock: Optional password and biometric lock protect the App on your device.
- No Cloud Storage: We do not store your financial data on any server; it is protected by your device's own security.
- Encryption in Transit: All communication with the third-party services above uses HTTPS.
- Backups: Backup files you export are not encrypted by the App. Keep them somewhere you trust.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
7. Your Rights
You can at any time:
- View, edit, export, or delete all of your data within the App.
- Review or withdraw advertising consent in Settings > Privacy > Privacy Settings (where consent applies).
- Stop tracking on iOS (Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking) or reset or delete your Advertising ID on Android.
- Remove your Gemini API key, which stops all cloud AI requests.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last Updated" date above.
9. GDPR (EEA, UK & Switzerland)
- Legal basis: Ads and analytics rely on your consent, collected through Google's certified Consent Management Platform on both Android and iOS. Crash reporting relies on our legitimate interest in keeping the App working.
- Withdrawing consent: You can change your choice at any time in Settings > Privacy > Privacy Settings. Declining still lets you use every feature; you then see non-personalised ads.
- Your rights: You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data, or object to its processing, by contacting us. For data held by Google, you can also use Google's own tools.
